First Timers to Soma Haus
Where should I begin?
If you are new to a somatic approach to physical and mental well-being, we usually recommend starting with our Nervous System Consultation & Gut Health Test.
This session is not an assessment or a diagnosis; rather, it’s about helping you understand what your body has been responding to and where it might need support. It gives us a clear place to begin, while offering you practical insight into how stress, digestion, and the nervous system are all connected.
It is a gentle entry point, as our practitioners place strong emphasis on psychoeducation, helping you make sense of your symptoms and experiences in a way that feels empowering.
Why does your Gut Microbiome matter?
Your gut microbiome is like a bustling city inside your body, made up of trillions of tiny bacteria and microorganisms living in your digestive system. These little helpers play a big role in keeping you healthy. They support your digestion, strengthen your immune system, and even impact your mood, sleep, and energy levels.
When the balance in this “city” is disrupted, it can lead to health issues like bloating, poor sleep, low energy, and even long-term conditions like diabetes or heart disease. Taking care of your gut microbiome can improve your overall well-being.

The consultation will cover the basics of the nervous system; how there is undeniable correlation between stress, trauma, and our health. Stress and trauma can lead to imbalances in the physiology of the autonomic nervous system. If these imbalances are left unaddressed, they can lead to mental and physical health problems as well.
In order to better understand the connection between stress, trauma, and our health, we must turn our attention to the vagus nerve and our understanding of the nervous system. The vagus nerve can be thought of as a bi-directional information highway that communicates between the mind and body. Imbalances in the vagus nerve and physiology of the autonomic nervous system can lead to feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, depression, or dissociation.
Stimulating the vagus nerve helps to regulate both sympathetic hyper-arousal and parasympathetic hypo-arousal. The best ways to naturally modulate these nervous responses are through breath, movement & education.

No, this is not a medical examination. You are working with one of our trained practitioners to explore how your nervous system responds to stress and recovery, and to gain insight into patterns that may affect your energy, balance, and wellbeing.
The session focuses on education, self-awareness, and personalised strategies — it does not replace medical advice or diagnosis. Our goal is to support you in cultivating sustainable habits and resilience in your daily life.

At Soma Haus, we know that gut health is deeply connected to your whole-body wellbeing. Your gut doesn’t just influence digestion, it communicates with your nervous system, brain, and immune system, impacting energy, mood, and resilience.
The gut microbiome contributes to the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin that contribute to improving mood and cognitive function.
Unprocessed trauma or chronic stress can dysregulate the nervous system, which in turn affects gut function. Supporting gut health is another resource one can use to help regulate the body and restore balance.
For our clients navigating chronic pain, working to improve our metabolic and digestive health can reduce systemic inflammation and support recovery.
